New contract award for Home-Start!
Staffordshire County Council has awarded a contract to deliver a new Children and Young People's Health and Wellbeing Programme. The Programme will be for children and young people aged 0-19 years old and will include the type of support provided by health visitors, school nurses and children's centres to date.
The aim is to give parents the confidence and skills they need to give their children the very best start in life, meet developmental milestones and be happy and healthy.
To do this the programme will ensure that Staffordshire’s families get the right amount of support to meet individual needs. Every family will be offered some core support. Those who need more will get more in a timely and effective way. We are keen to support families to be confident and able to support themselves and for people in communities to support each other.
The new programme will meet the needs of busy modern families by ensuring that the right amount of support is available for every family, using the right balance of self-support, community support and support from professionals.
Home-Start Newcastle Borough
Home-Start Newcastle Borough are delighted to advise that we have been commissioned by Staffordshire County Council to deliver tier 2 family support services in the Newcastle District as part of this Programme.
Home-Start is a charity that has been supporting local families since 1997. We have a team of committed, professionally trained and highly experienced Family Support Workers who deliver Home-Start's unique brand of family support across a range of issues, offering both practical and emotional help to empower families to function more independently.
Tier 2 family support services commissioned by Staffordshire County Council now covers families with children in the 0-19 range.
We take a holistic approach to family support, and work in the home and the school environment to help address the needs of the families we support. Families will receive a minimum 12 week intervention and we also take the responsibility to lead on the Early Help Assessment (EHA) paperwork and Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings.
We also offer support under the Building Resilient Families and Communities (BRFC) programme.
Our practical and emotional support is free, confidential and non-judgemental. Some examples of how we can help are:
• Managing the home environment
• Support to attend appointments
• Referrals to other partner agencies for additional support
• Guidance and support for managing children's behaviour
• Modeling positive parenting strategies
• Encouraging parental engagement with the children
